I made it to 50 last year... just. This year I am aiming for the same. Upping it to 55 just seemed a little scary, and it seems half the books on my 'to read' shelf are extremely fat and would kill a charging elephant at 50 paces.

Hmmm, I don't really think they sound that much like Blur. Sure, they both play the same sort of stuff but certainly newer Blur stuff has tended to be a bit more introspective and downbeat whereas I'll always associate Supergrass with anything that's a bit daft!

I guess if someone was only now just getting into either Blur or Supergrass (which I'm assuming you are? Sorry if I've got the wrong end of the stick there!) then the comparison is definitely viable. I practically grew up listening to them both though so it's hard to be objective :D

You are correct, my friend. I'm a new fan of both, yes; therefore, I haven't heard Blur's newer stuff just yet. Only heard Modern Life is Rubbish, and that one is quite upbeat and poppy. Having said that, I don't actually see the Blur/Supergrass resemblance - as I think the latter is more rockish sounding than the former.

What other Blur album would you recommend I listen to? You know, to get a much deeper insight on what they're really like.

Modern Life is Rubbish is such a brilliant album, probably my favourite of theirs. The most poppy is definitely Parklife though. That's the one that really got them a lot of fans back when it first came out. As for the later stuff, '13' is what I think of as more grown up Blur. So I'd recommend those two for now. You should be able to get them on [livejournal.com profile] indie_exchange :)

Yeah, a a lot of people seem to say that 13 is a lot different than their usual stuff. I'll take your word for it then. Thanks. :)

What would you say is your favourite Pulp album, btw?

I really love This Is Hardcore. It's very underrated. Second favourite has to be Different Class. My favourite Pulp song is I Spy :)
